Violinist Kate Arndt, from Boston, is pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree under Ani Kavafian. With master's degrees from Yale and undergraduate studies at New England Conservatory, she has performed as a soloist at venues like Boston’s Symphony Hall and Jordan Hall. Active in Europe, Kate participated in the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, Kronberg Master Classes, and IMS Prussia Cove Masterclasses. In the US, she attended Music@Menlo, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Taos School of Music, Perlman Music Program, and Sarasota Music Festival. In 2021, she won first prize at the CSU Bakersfield Competition.
As a chamber musician, Kate has performed at Carnegie Hall, with her current group, the Vera Quartet, and participated in the Mellon Music Festival. She worked with artists like Robert McDonald, Ida Kavafian, and Colin Carr at the Four Seasons Winter Workshop. Kate's former group, the Isolde Quartet, received an honorable mention at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and collaborated with ensembles like Calidore, Callisto, and Kodak String Quartets. Focusing on women's contributions to classical music, she plans to feature female composers in future performances.
